saturday felt very long.

i unpacked properly this morning. hung two things in the cupboard, gave up on the door that won't close, left the rest in a bag on the floor. the room looks exactly the same.

went out around noon to find a grocery store. the lane outside was wet and narrow, with puddles that were harder to read than they looked. got my shoe soaked near the corner. found a small shop, bought some biscuits and instant noodles and two bananas. stood there for a moment wondering if i was forgetting something. probably not.

the rain started again properly by the time i got back. sat on my bed and ate a banana and watched water streak down the window.

neha was home for part of the afternoon. she made tea at some point and asked if i wanted some. i said yes. we stood in the kitchen and she asked which team i was joining at work. i told her. she nodded. then she went back to her room. it was not uncomfortable. just two strangers being polite to each other.

i keep thinking about monday. what time to leave, which train, whether i will remember all the documents they asked for. i have a folder ready. checked it twice.

called home in the evening. papa picked up, which surprised me. he asked if everything was okay. i said yes. he said okay. we talked for maybe four minutes. felt like more.

the city sounds the same at night as it did yesterday. just continuous.
