second day at the office. the rain has gotten worse, the kind where the sky doesn't bother pretending it might clear later. the train was delayed and everyone on the platform kept staring at the announcement board like that would fix it. got in twenty minutes late. nobody said anything. a girl at my row of desks said the trains do this every year, like it was just a fact of life here. maybe it is.

my manager finally introduced herself properly today. short conversation, she asked if i was settling in, i said yes, she said good, come to her if i get stuck on anything. i wrote that down in my head like a rule to remember.

spent most of the day going through some document explaining how the codebase is set up. understood maybe half of it. kept a list of words to look up later. felt behind but didn't say that out loud to anyone.

lunch alone again, dal rice again. started wondering how many times i can eat the same thing before it stops being comforting and just becomes what's available.

neha was in the kitchen when i got back, drying her hair with a towel. asked how day two was. i said tiring. she said it gets less tiring, not less busy. i didn't know if that was supposed to help.

called maa for two minutes only, she was cooking, said she'd call properly tomorrow. told her the trains were late because of the rain. she told me to carry an umbrella, as if i wasn't already holding one.

sat by the window after. the lane outside had more water in it than yesterday. i don't mind the rain as much when i'm on the right side of the glass.
