third day at office today. rain has turned serious now, the kind where they said schools were shutting early and the trains kept crawling. i left ten minutes earlier than usual just in case and it still took forever. everyone on the train had that resigned look, like nobody was surprised anymore.

got to my desk and there was a new ticket assigned to me. small one, a form validation bug, but it took me most of the morning just to find the right file. the codebase still feels like someone else's house where i don't know which drawer anything is in. asked the girl at the next desk, her name is priya, where a certain folder was. she showed me, then asked if i'd found a good tiffin place yet. i said not really. she said she'd tell me one tomorrow.

lunch was dal rice again. i actually laughed a little to myself about it, alone, which felt strange.

did the maths on my expenses on the train back, more out of habit than need. rent is paid till the end of the month but the small stuff adds up, the autos when it's flooded, the extra chai. salary is still more than two weeks off. tried not to think about it too much.

called maa properly this time like she had promised. she asked about the office food, i told her about the dal rice, she laughed and said she would send some pickle with someone coming this way. papa was watching the news in the background, something about the rain.

sitting by the window now. the lane below is fully underwater near the corner. still feels okay though. small day, nothing broke.
