What We Collect
We collect only what's necessary to make the app work. Here's a complete breakdown:
Account Information
- Email: For login and password recovery
- Name: To personalize your experience
- Date of Birth: Optional, for age-appropriate content
Journal Content
- Entries: Stored locally by default, cloud sync optional
- Photos: Attached media stored securely
- Mood Data: Your tracked emotions and patterns
Technical Data
- Device Info: Model, OS for compatibility
- Crash Reports: To fix bugs and improve stability
- Location: Optional, only if you enable geotagging
How We Use Your Data
Your data is used solely to provide and improve the app. Nothing more.
- Create and authenticate your account securely
- Sync your entries across your devices (if enabled)
- Analyze mood patterns and provide AI insights (private to you)
- Detect and prevent fraud or security threats
- Display relevant ads to keep the app free (via Google AdMob)
What We NEVER Do

Third-Party Services
To keep Zendiary free, we integrate with some Google services. Here's exactly what they do and don't have access to:
Google Analytics
We use this to understand how people use the app — which features are popular, where crashes happen, etc.
Privacy Note: Analytics data is fully anonymized. We see "100 users opened Breathing Mode" — never "John opened it because he was anxious."
Google Ads (AdMob)
Ads help keep the core app free. Google may use your Advertising ID for relevant ads.

Storage & Security
We follow a Local-First philosophy. Your data stays on your device unless you choose to sync.
Encryption
In Transit: HTTPS/TLS encryption
At Rest: AES-256 encryption on servers
Server Location
Data stored in secure, certified data centers (US, EU, Asia) compliant with international standards.
Data Retention
We keep your data as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, data is removed from active servers immediately and from backups within 90 days.
