The Agreement

These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("User", "you") and ZenDiary (also known as "My Diary: AI Journal with Lock"), developed and operated by Pulkit ("we", "us", "Platform").

By downloading, installing, or using ZenDiary, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the app.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use ZenDiary.

If you are under 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms.

Availability

ZenDiary is available globally via the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.

Some features may vary by region due to local regulations.

Plain English Summary: By using ZenDiary, you're agreeing to these rules. You need to be at least 13 years old. If you're under 18, make sure a parent or guardian is okay with you using the app.

Your Content & Ownership

ZenDiary is designed as a private, personal space. Unlike social media platforms, your content is yours alone.

You Own Your Content

You retain full ownership of all content you create in ZenDiary, including:

Journal entries (text content)
Photos and images you attach
Mood data and tracking information
Stickers and decorations you add
Chat conversations with Zeni (our AI)

We claim no intellectual property rights over your personal content.

Limited License Grant

By using ZenDiary, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to:

Store your content locally on your device
Process your content through AI features (when you use them)
Backup your content to your personal cloud accounts (when enabled)
Display your content back to you within the app

This license exists solely to provide you the service and terminates when you delete your account.

Plain English Summary: Everything you create in ZenDiary belongs to you. We don't own your journals, photos, or thoughts. We only process your data to make the app work for you.

ZenDiary uses AI to power its core features. Your journal data is processed securely, never stored on external servers, and is not used to train AI models.

AI is an essential part of ZenDiary that enables mood detection, the Zeni companion, and intelligent insights. By using ZenDiary, you agree to the following terms regarding AI features:

Core AI Functionality

Automatic mood detection is a core feature of ZenDiary. When you save a journal entry, your text is securely processed by AI to suggest an appropriate mood.

This feature cannot be disabled as it's fundamental to how ZenDiary's mood tracking works. By using ZenDiary, you consent to this processing.

Data Security Commitment

We are committed to protecting your privacy:

✓Zero retention: Our AI provider does not store, log, or retain your journal content after processing
✓No server storage: Your journal entries are stored only on your device — never on our servers
✓No AI training: Your personal data is never used to train or improve AI models
✓Encrypted transmission: All data is encrypted during transmission using industry-standard protocols

AI Features & Usage

🎭 Mood Detection (Automatic)

Processes your entry text when you save to suggest an appropriate mood emoji. This is automatic and essential for mood tracking.

💬 Zeni Chat Companion (On-demand)

When you chat with Zeni, your messages and recent journal context are processed to generate personalized responses.

📊 Analysis Features (On-demand, Premium)

Features like Word Cloud, Stress Analysis, and Personal Growth process your recent entries when you explicitly request them.

AI Limitations

Please understand the limitations of AI:

• AI mood detection is an approximation and may not always be accurate
• AI-generated insights are based on text analysis and may miss important context
• The AI companion provides supportive responses but cannot understand your full situation
• AI analysis should complement, not replace, your own self-reflection

Mental Health Notice

ZenDiary is a journaling tool, not a medical device.

• Zeni is an AI companion, not a licensed therapist or counselor
• AI-generated insights are for personal reflection only
• Do not rely on AI features for mental health diagnosis or treatment
• If you're experiencing mental health difficulties, please consult a qualified professional
• In case of emergency, contact your local emergency services

Daily limits reset at midnight in your local timezone. Unused allowances do not roll over.

Backup & Data Storage

ZenDiary follows a "local-first" philosophy. Your journal data is stored on your device by default and is never automatically uploaded to our servers.

Local Storage (Default)

By default, all your data stays on your device:

Journal entries and photos stored in encrypted local database
Chat history stored locally
Settings and preferences stored locally

We cannot access this data. If you uninstall the app without backing up, this data is permanently lost.

Optional Cloud Backup

You may optionally enable backup to your personal cloud storage:

Google Drive: Backup stored in YOUR Google account
iCloud (iOS): Backup stored in YOUR Apple iCloud account

By enabling backup, you authorize ZenDiary to:

Create and update a backup file in your cloud storage
Read the backup file to restore your data

We cannot access your cloud backup. It is stored in your personal account.

Server-Side Data

We store minimal data on our servers (Firebase/Google Cloud):

Account information (email, name, profile picture)
Subscription status
Anonymous usage analytics

We do NOT store your journal content, photos, or chat history on our servers.

⚠️ Data Loss Warning: You are responsible for backing up your data. If your device is lost, stolen, or damaged, and you have not enabled cloud backup, your journal entries cannot be recovered.

Billing & Auto-Renewal

Subscriptions are billed through Apple App Store or Google Play Store
Payment is charged to your App Store/Play Store account at confirmation of purchase
Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period
Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period
You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your device's account settings
Any unused portion of a free trial period will be forfeited when you purchase a subscription

Refunds

We cannot process refunds directly.

All payments are processed by Apple or Google. We do not have access to your payment information or the ability to issue refunds.

User Conduct

While ZenDiary is primarily a private journaling app, you agree to use it responsibly and lawfully.

Prohibited Activities

You agree NOT to:

Use ZenDiary to plan, promote, or engage in illegal activities
Attempt to hack, reverse-engineer, or compromise the app's security
Upload malware, viruses, or malicious code
Use the AI features to generate harmful, illegal, or abusive content
Impersonate others or create accounts for fraudulent purposes
Violate any applicable laws or regulations
Share your account credentials with others
Use automated systems or bots to access the service

Community Features

If you participate in optional community features (such as "The Clarity Club"), you additionally agree to:

Treat other community members with respect
Not post hate speech, harassment, or discriminatory content
Not share others' personal information without consent
Follow any additional community guidelines provided

Enforcement: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, without refund, and to report illegal activities to appropriate authorities.

Disclaimers & Liability

ZenDiary, including the Zeni AI companion, is a journaling and self-reflection tool. It is NOT a substitute for professional medical, psychological, or psychiatric treatment.

Service Provided 'As Is'

ZenDiary is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to:

That the service will be uninterrupted or error-free
That defects will be corrected
That the app is free of viruses or harmful components
The accuracy or reliability of AI-generated content

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, ZenDiary and its developer shall not be liable for:

Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
Loss of data (please use cloud backup)
Loss of profits or business opportunities
Personal injury or emotional distress
Actions taken based on AI-generated content

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the service in the 12 months preceding the claim.

Third-Party Services

ZenDiary integrates with third-party services. We are not responsible for:

Actions or policies of Our AI Service Provider (AI provider)
Google Drive or iCloud service availability
Apple App Store or Google Play Store policies
Firebase/Google Cloud service interruptions

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ZenDiary and its developer from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising from your violation of these Terms or misuse of the service.

Termination & Data Deletion

You may stop using ZenDiary at any time. Here's how termination and data deletion work:

Your Right to Terminate

You can stop using ZenDiary at any time by:

Deleting the app from your device
Cancelling your subscription (if applicable)
Requesting account deletion via email

Our Right to Terminate

We may suspend or terminate your access if:

You violate these Terms of Service
You engage in fraudulent or illegal activity
Required by law or legal process
We discontinue the service (with reasonable notice)

Data Deletion

Upon termination or account deletion:

Local data: Deleted when you uninstall the app
Server data: Deleted within 30 days of account deletion request
Cloud backups: Remain in YOUR Google Drive/iCloud until you delete them
Analytics: Anonymized data may be retained

How to Delete Your Data

Go to Settings → Account → "Delete All Journals" for immediate local deletion

Delete the ZenDiary backup file manually from your Google Drive or iCloud

Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, features, or legal requirements.

How We Notify You

When we make changes:

We will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page
For significant changes, we will notify you via in-app notification
We may also send an email to your registered address for major changes

Continued Use = Acceptance: Your continued use of ZenDiary after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree to the new terms, please stop using the app.
