The Mind is
Not a Feed.
In an age of infinite scroll and manufactured outrage, we chose to build a sanctuary. This is what we believe.
The attention economy
broke something in us.
You check your phone 96 times a day
You feel anxious when you're alone with your thoughts
You compare your life to highlight reels
You've forgotten what boredom feels like
Your attention span is shorter than a goldfish
You doom-scroll at 2am instead of sleeping
Sound familiar? You're not alone. And it's not your fault.
Our Core Tenets
Write for Yourself.
Social media makes you perform. A diary makes you reflect. In Zendiary, there are no likes, no shares, no followers. It's a digital monastery where the only audience is your future self. No one is watching. No one is judging. Just you, your thoughts, and the clarity that comes from putting them into words.
Create > Consume.
The modern internet is designed to make you a passive consumer—scrolling, liking, absorbing. We built a tool for active creation. Writing forces you to slow down. To process. To transform vague feelings into concrete understanding. Creation is the antidote to consumption.
Your Data is Sacred.
Your thoughts are not a commodity to be mined, analyzed, and sold to advertisers. We believe in local-first architecture and end-to-end encryption. If we can't read your diary, we can't sell it. We don't want to. We never will. Your mind belongs to you.
AI as a Mirror, Not a Master.
Artificial Intelligence should not replace human thought—it should illuminate it. We use AI not to generate content for you, but to help you see patterns in your own thinking. It's a mirror that reflects your mental habits back at you, helping you understand yourself better.
The Long Game.
Mental clarity is not a hack or a quick fix. It's a practice. We're not interested in 'engagement metrics' or 'daily active users.' We're interested in whether you feel lighter after using the app than you did before. That's the only metric that matters.
Built with Soul.
Zendiary is not a product of focus groups or growth hacking. It's a personal tool that became public. Every feature exists because we needed it ourselves. There's no dark patterns, no manipulation, no psychological tricks. Just honest software for honest reflection.
Our Privacy
Commitments.
Words are cheap. Here's exactly what we do—and don't do—with your data.
End-to-End Encryption
Your journal entries are encrypted on your device before they ever leave it. We cannot read them even if we wanted to.
Local-First Storage
Your data lives on your device first. Cloud sync is optional and always encrypted. You own your data, always.
No Analytics on Content
We don't analyze what you write. No keyword tracking, no sentiment analysis for ads. Your thoughts are yours alone.
True Deletion
When you delete something, it's gone. No 'soft deletes', no hidden backups. Delete means delete.
Full Data Export
Export all your data anytime in standard formats. No lock-in. If you want to leave, we make it easy.
Transparent Practices
Our privacy policy is written in plain English. No legal jargon designed to confuse. We have nothing to hide.
"I built this because
I needed it myself."
Hi, I'm Pulkit.
Two years ago, I was a mess. Constant anxiety about grades, career, relationships—the usual cocktail of modern Indian student stress. I tried every productivity app, every meditation tool, every "life-changing" habit tracker. Nothing stuck.
Then I started journaling in a plain text file. No features, no gamification, no streaks. Just words on a screen. And something shifted. For the first time, I could see my thoughts instead of just feeling them.
But I wanted more. I wanted to understand why I felt anxious on certain days. I wanted patterns, insights, trends. I wanted AI that could be a thinking partner, not a content generator.
I couldn't find it. So I built it.
Zendiary started as a personal project. I shared it with friends who were struggling with similar issues. They shared it with their friends. And here we are—thousands of people using something that started in my hostel room.
I'm not a corporation. I don't have investors pushing for growth at all costs. I don't have a "exit strategy." I have a tool that helps me think clearly, and I want to share it with anyone who needs it.
That's the whole story. No marketing spin. Just a student who needed a quiet place to think.
