Our manifesto
The mind is not a feed.
In an age of infinite scroll and manufactured outrage, we chose to build a sanctuary. This is what we believe.
The problem
The attention economy broke something in us.
You check your phone 96 times a day
You feel anxious when you're alone with your thoughts
You compare your life to highlight reels
You've forgotten what boredom feels like
Your attention span keeps shrinking
You doom-scroll at 2am instead of sleeping
Sound familiar? You’re not alone — and it’s not your fault.
What we believe
Our core tenets.
Write for yourself.
Social media makes you perform. A diary makes you reflect. In Zendiary there are no likes, no shares, no followers — a quiet room where the only audience is your future self. No one is watching. No one is judging.
Create over consume.
The modern internet is built to make you a passive consumer. We built a tool for active creation. Writing forces you to slow down, to process, to turn vague feelings into concrete understanding. Creation is the antidote to consumption.
Your data is sacred.
Your thoughts are not a commodity to be mined and sold to advertisers. We believe in privacy by design. If we can’t read your diary, we can’t sell it — we don’t want to, and we never will.
AI as a mirror, not a master.
AI should not replace human thought — it should illuminate it. We use it not to generate content for you, but to help you see the patterns in your own thinking, reflected gently back.
The long game.
Mental clarity isn’t a hack or a quick fix — it’s a practice. We’re not chasing engagement metrics. The only number that matters is whether you feel lighter after writing than you did before.
Built with soul.
Zendiary is not the product of focus groups or growth hacking. Every feature exists because we needed it ourselves. No dark patterns, no manipulation — just honest software for honest reflection.
Privacy & trust
Words are cheap. Here are our commitments.
Exactly what we do — and don’t do — with your data.
Encrypted on device
Your entries are protected on your device. We’re built so we cannot casually read them.
Yours, first
Your data is yours. Sync is optional and private. You own your words, always.
No content analytics
We don’t mine what you write. No keyword tracking, no sentiment analysis for ads.
True deletion
When you delete something, it’s gone. No “soft deletes,” no hidden backups.
Full export
Export everything anytime, in standard formats. No lock-in — leaving is easy.
Plain-English policy
Our privacy policy is written to be understood, not to confuse. We have nothing to hide.
The human behind Zendiary
“I built this because I needed it myself.”
Hi, I’m Pulkit.
Two years ago, I was a mess — constant anxiety about grades, career, relationships. I tried every productivity app and meditation tool. Nothing stuck.
Then I started journaling in a plain text file. No features, no streaks. Just words on a screen. And something shifted: for the first time, I could see my thoughts instead of just feeling them.
But I wanted to understand why certain days felt heavier — patterns, insights, an AI that could be a thinking partner, not a content generator. I couldn’t find it. So I built it.
Zendiary started in a hostel room and spread friend to friend. No investors pushing growth at all costs, no exit strategy — just a tool that helps me think clearly, shared with anyone who needs it.
That’s the whole story. No marketing spin — just a student who needed a quiet place to think.
