AI Provider Notice
AI processing and provider-policy information.
Short version: your journal is local-first by default, but AI features are different. When you use AI features, relevant content may be sent to an external AI service so the feature can respond.
Last updated: 23 June 2026
What this does and does not mean
We do not sell your journal content to advertisers, and we do not publish your private entries.
AI processing means that the text needed for a requested AI feature may be transmitted to an external AI service to generate a response, insight, summary, recommendation, or mood suggestion.
Provider policies can vary
ZenDiary may use different external AI services over time or for different AI features. Because of that, we do not treat one static provider privacy policy as the only policy that will always apply.
External AI services may have their own data retention, abuse-prevention, security, debugging, legal-compliance, and service-operation policies. Depending on the service and settings, prompts, outputs, or related metadata may be retained temporarily.
We do not promise zero data retention by an external AI service unless that is confirmed by the applicable contract, service settings, and law.
Your choice
If you are not comfortable with AI processing, do not use Zeni, AI Insights, mood detection, recommendations, or other AI-powered features.
You can still use non-AI journaling features. If you want the current AI processing details for a specific feature before using it, email us and we will share the current information we have.
Deletion and support
You can request account or data deletion at any time by emailing hi@zendiary.in with the subject "Account Deletion Request".
When your ZenDiary account is deleted, we delete the account data we control on our systems. External AI services may keep temporary processing logs under their own retention policies; many AI services automatically delete this type of data after a limited period, often around 30 days, unless they need to keep it longer for security, abuse prevention, legal compliance, or similar reasons.
Questions about AI privacy?
We will answer as clearly as we can.
